Parameters of Lagoon
Parameters of Lagoon
The Hydrobiological Station of Chioggia collects data on the following environmental parameters.
pH: scale 0-14, measured with pH-meter CRISON mod. BASIC20 (from 1992)
Air temperature: expressed in degree Celsius, measured a mercury-in-glass thermometer (to the nearest 0.1°C)
Until 2016:
-Water temperature: expressed in degree Celsius, measured with a mercury-in-glass thermometer (to the nearest 0.1°C)
-Salinity: expressed in g/kg, estimated from the measurement of temperature and density (densimeters Seewasser – Araometer Richter &Wiese K.G.)
-Dissolved O2: expressed as ml/l, measured with Winckler’s method.
Since 2017, Dissolved O2, temperature and salinity data have been measured with a HANNA INSTRUMENTS HI 9829 multiparameter probe.
All data are recorded in a water sample taken at 0.5 m of depth in front at the Hydrobiological Station (Venetian Lagoon, close to the southern channel connecting the lagoon to the open sea). Air temperature is recorded at the Hydrobiological Station.
All data are recorded on a daily base, excluding week end.
Data are available from 1973 (data missing from November 1990 to September 1992).
The English version of the database will be available soon.
