Internship
The final examination for the degree includes an internship activity lasting 9 months. This internship allows students to carry out research work within different fields. This can be done at the laboratories of the University of Padova, including the laboratories of the Hydrobiological Station, or at the laboratories of other public or private research institutions. Over the years, various agreements have been developed to facilitate these internship both in Italy and abroad. Marine biology students can benefit from this already consolidated national and international network, or promote the development of new contacts.
In addition to the laboratories of the Department of Biology and the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science of the University of Padua, internships in Italy were carried out at research institutions (including ISPRA, OGS, CNR), other universities, seafood production firms such as aquaculture facilities.
To carry out internships abroad, students can take advantage of the Erasmus program. To date, students of the Marine Biology degree course have carried out their internships abroad in various European (Spain, Croatia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Great Britain) and extra-European (Australia, USA, Peru) countries.
For their duration and varied opportunities, the internship activities are highly formative and can direct the student to different occupational fields. The professors of the University of Padua propose various internship topics and support external internships.
